Set out to find the source of my Evaporator water leak.

Symptom-

Wet carpet/feet on drivers side we accelerating/cornering (left turns only) with enthusiasm and only with AC set to max cold ie "low" and max fan speed

Curve Ball-

Undercar drain is still working when car is stationary.

So after a couple of hours I had this-

and here's what I found

post-7403-0-16304300-1420809920_thumb.jp

nuthin suss you say?

Well with the pipe clamp removed the heater core does this-

The lower sealing foam hes deteriorated the result is water sloshing up past it when taking a left hander or giving it the herbs (at least I hope i'm right as it's a helluva job to go round 2 on!)

So tomorrow I'll be off to find some nice high density self adhesive foam to replace the failed bit and will probably back it up with some silicone.

Nice job of locating the problem Ralph.

Don't know if you've seen in my thread where I had my dash replaced after it was marked in a workshop but since it was replaced, I swear that the steering wheel isn't sitting square on to the seat any more

Are the 4 bolts / nuts fixed or is there a bit of movement in there to swing the column left or right a bit?

They are a neat fit in the plastic mount blocks on the column so not much chance of misalignment there. More likely the seat wasn't set back in straight.

Hey Gunna, wrong thread man! post move to the QLD chat thread.

Those 352s on the two door bring back memories. I had a VJ charger 15 x 8 on the front and 10s on the back 265 and 295/50. It was 1984 and we finally had a steel belted radial. No more textile TAs for me. Before the yoki and bridgestone eager 330, you had to leave your car home when it rained.....

Yeh Ralph I still haven't got around to loctiteing and putting the new bolt on Todds crank.

Hey at least the balancer didnt fall off........
