So I had to order a new high pressure power steer hose that  goes into reservoir from Ford through my mechanic, $550 incl gst damn what a ripoff, cars done 32000 kms 2015 fgx xr6t, ofcourse Ford don't want to cough up  on warranty. Pretty disappointing. Welcome to motorsport.

cancel your order and buy it off ebay? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/223951577709 ... even that item has probably more than you actually need, so you could probably find the relevant part you actually need to replace on that ebay store

Alternator was being noisy but still working so removed it from car, disassembled the alternator and would you know it, there was a $10 bearing in it that was shagged, so ordered it from fleabay. Beats paying for a new alternator!

So yerp the bearing showed up for the alternator.

I disassembled the alternator which was fairly straightforward, except for a bit of desoldering.

Put the new bearing in and put it back together, including resoldering the winding, which was easier than you'd think, but fairly time consuming.

The new water pump showed up which got me back to it today. It took roughly 4 hours to repair a couple of threads/snapped bolts, fit water pump and refit alternator. There are 15 bolts to fit the water pump, there are several different lengths and thickness and there are brackets that have to go over the pump housing before fitting! Trust me, it sucked!

Got some hectic sunburn on my shoulders but it was worth it when the car fired up, the pump was quiet with no leaks and the alternator was also quiet and charging!

Anyhow, not terribly exciting but it's what I did to my car today :declare:
