When your car is not driven, only dust and dirt sit on the surface. No oily residue from road grime etc.

Only need to rinse off and drip dry the car (plus finish with chamois)

Dirt and dust is what creates swirls in your paint man (when you drag it across the car with a chamois). If it's sitting in a garage I'd either just leave it, or do a proper wash every now and then...if it's just "dust and dirt" on the surface from sitting in the garage and you go to the effort of pulling the car out, it would take all of about 5 minutes extra to wash it with a lambswool mitt and double bucket wash method. Much less chance of dragging sh*t across your paint with a chamois (large microfibre towel is more gentle than a chamois too btw) at which point.

I'm aware of what creates swirls in paint and I'm also aware how to wash a car correctly for best paint maintenance.

If the rinsing water takes all of the dirt and dust with it, then there's no dirt and dust left on the paint to create swirls. It's as simple as that.

EDIT: I'm largely limited by the fact that the car is parked in a shared garage underneath my apartment (hence the car next to mine in the photo) which has no electrical or hose connections. The car is also not running right now (details in the other thread) and this means taking it to a carwash is not a great option.

I pushed the car around the carpark to the random tap that's in our shared trash area (probably used for cleaning that area by the sharing supermarket) and hosed the car down until all of the dirt was off it. Where tiny bits of dirt remained I bucket rinsed those areas before letting it drip-dry and then chamois to "finish" it up.
