Like I said, it's heat shielded and safe.

Oil is hot so it's designed to get warm.

Oxy sensor wiring doesn't melt, rubber turbo oil drain lines don't melt.

Why should a heat shielded line designed to carry hot oil melt?

As long as it's adequately heat shielded, it should be fine. Just saying it CAN happen, not that it necessarily will.

If you're aware of the potential consequences and are happy with your level of risk, then there's nothing more to be said :)

As you know Spy, I look for the "what if something goes wrong" situation all the time (and then usually go ahead and do it anyway coz stupid) but gotta agree with going electrical instead of mechanical for the oil gauge.

Worst case senario = something happens with the gauge and there is 90 degree oil spraying inside the car and ----- who is sitting in the back ???? 2 awesome kids

oh and Leandra's in the front of cause......can't forget her :)

Look I agree, I would have gone electrical but these came up uber cheap so I grabbed them. I've never had mech gauges in my cars for the reasons mentioned above but after quite some research, as long as it's installed properly, the chances of failure are extremely slim.
