The fitting from your modded tstat housing will have a hose that will run to the base of the overflow bottle with the short tube. The other fitting with the extended tube in the bottle is to vent or run it to a coke bottle etc for the drags to stop any possible overflowing coolant getting on the track.

Ahh the overflow goes into the one with small tube on the inside and then when/if it fills up it drains down the larger height tube and that can be either directed into a bottle gotcha.

Pitty the line that goes into the bottle couldn't be plumbed back in somewhere so no plastic bottle needs to be used making it a clean system so to speak.

Doesn't have to be if it's big enough but if you going do a clean bay that's the go. You shouldn't need the extra bottle for daily stuff, mainly to keep officials happy.

Run the setup exactly like motocross bikes. Run a pressure cap rated to 1ish bar and run the over flow to a simple catch can. Once u push out the very first part from expansion (will be a very small amount) empty the catch can. And you will never see coolant again at normal operating temperatures. Every time you check your coolant cold u will think it is low but once warm it will be spot on.

One the way to work today had an unusual clunk and bang and saw a chunk of metal boucing down the road behind me. Luckily it was a quiet street so I was able to turn around and retrieve said bit. Which turned out to be the lower part of my crankcase catch can-

Luckily due to the design of the can the return line to the intake was still filtered so I was able to drive on to work.

Got home this arvo and threw the car up on the hoist and set to work fixing the damaged lower half. I was able to deburr the taper for o-ring and buff it smooth and dress the threads with a thread file.

I was then able to then screw the lower can home by hand. I was then concerned it would come loose it the future so I considered tapping a locking set screw but due to the fine thread I decided against it. I had a scrounge around in my spare crap bin and found one of the left over brackets. After a little love from ye olde hammer and vice and a spare hose clamp I came up with this arrangement

I dare this furker to come loose now. On the plus side the cans are very effective at catching oil. On the down side as the can exited stage rear is deposited this oil all over the underside of the car....So I threw a couple of cans of degreaser on the underside of the car and then headed off to the local auto wash which thankfully has an underbody spray so she's all clean again.

The cans GeGe6 organised as working very well, I'd estimate the crankcase can had 40 to 50ml of oil in it and the PCV can 50 to 70ml. No surprises as the car has forged pistons (rattly when cold) and I run 5w30 so the engine does breath while the pistons warm up and when belting it under full load, so while it does breath at least that oils no longer making it's way into the engine.

Cliff notes- Bit fell off, fixed bit, put bit back on with stronger bits and washed dirty bits
