If you've got access to a press, then go ahead and just buy the bearing(s). But of course it's up to you if you want to spend the extra $$.

Had a log book service done at Monsta Torque today, they also changed out the diff and gearbox oils. Gearbox feels nicer, now just gotta be gentle with it for like 5,000kms.

Installing an alien egg into your car Luke? Nice!

Dan, why gentle for 5000?

I dropped the belt off today and refitted the old original one, got rid of a tick noise. Brushed and put "new" belt back on - still no tick noise. Hoping it was just a stone or something in it, but it only happened once per rotation which was odd. Bought 2 pulleys at Repco for nothing...good to have spares I guess. Was worried the power steering pulley was on the way out!

Also checked my crankshaft bolt head size: 21mm.

Dan, why gentle for 5000?

I spoke to Mal Wood the other week about the fact that my 5,000 km old TR6060 would crunch 2nd when changing hard at full noise and he said that these gearboxes need to be treated gently for the first 5,000 odd kms to bed it all in. By getting stuck in and ripping gears early on you can glaze the synchros. He suggested I change the oil and replace it with some dexron 3 and be gentle with it for the next 5,000km...said it might unglaze the synchros and come good.

So when I told Darren from MT what was happening he pretty much said the same thing that Mal had, they need to be treated nicely for the first 5,000kms. So again, he said to change the oil and be gentle with it until my next service and we'll see how it is then. He said the rip shifter is fine to keep in too, just not to "rip" gears haha.

Sooooo yeah...gonna be a long 6 months...

You should rent a dirty shack in the hills and force yourself to have a long commute :P

Cheaper to lend it to me though.

That's interesting Steve. Looks like the performance engines are 22mm.

Steve got in before I did then, cause I was gonna say, that while you are onsite, you can leave your car parked in my garage.

I would be happy to put some gentle kms on the clock for ya Dan.
