Yep steel. Plastic has lots of fins along it.

$$$

Gearbox rebuilt and PWR heat exchanger fitted all by XFT! No more slipping and 5mph loss over the 1/4. Stoked! Just have to get it back to the plex to confirm my lost mph was the (tired) ZF.

It was only a morning's work for them, but I had to wait 3 working days to get to the front of the queue!

When I asked Simon the drive in/out price was almost 4 grand for the whole thing. Not sure if he threw in the cooler fitment for free or not. My input shaft was reusable as well...tiny tiny tiny twist but he knows I'm on a budget and it was already the stronger black factory ones for some reason (cop car spec ZF you know how it is, goes with the cop chip option from factory).

Gearbox now has to figure out that the distance it needs to move is 1/3 what it was before...grimace inducing BANG on the 3rd gear shifts but slowly getting better. 1000km to come back to smooth he advised and Murdok said it was the same with his.

Feels soooooooooooooo much firmer in gear though and it was shifting fine when I gave the car some proper work to do around some short streets. It's light throttle that makes it freak out, hahaha.

Should point out I paid a fair bit less than the 4k for the rebuild since the shaft was fine, it also included machining pistons to fit in extra packs, plus the flex plate. But the whole stage 1 kit was like 3900 or something if I needed it.
