Put a filter on the BOV making the pshh sound louder. Any hints how I can get the flutter noise ?

to get flutter you will need to remov the bov and block up all the holes, including blocking vacuum line with a screw or something small.

You will have a small flutter sound, to make it louder you will need to get a K&N filter and cut a hole in the bottom of the airbox. I did this and was satisfied.

A week later I got the rear exhaust chopped off and replaced with a straight 3", this made the flutter the loudest it has ever been :S

years ago I would have contemplated pulling a dash out to do a ICC upgrade/fix mixer shaft/whatever, but the thought now sends shivers down my spine...

I happily pulled the dash out of the XC to do a heater core about 5 years ago, but these days ill pay for that chit to get done.

It's not a bad job, I wouldn't recommend anybody approaching 6 foot attempt it and you'll be spending most of the day crouched in the car.

I'm very happy to have the dual zone working, I also managed to fix my auto headlights that haven't worked since I've owned the car. (it always helps if the sensor is plugged in......) and I had a fiddle with the clutch MC mounting position while the dash was out and that seems to have cured my dodgy shifts.

I had a random evaporator water leak onto the carpet but that seems to have cured itself :dontknow: and my car now piddles on the ground like it always has..........

Possibly,didn't do it before the dash came out, did for one day after the day went back in, Now doesn't do it. Might have to make a warranty claim against the clown that pulled the dash out.........................................................................................................oh wait nevermind.

Haha did u find the firewall flexing when the clutch is pressed causing your average shifts ?

What was the go u reckon ?

I loosened the MC mounting bolts, Pulled the clutch pedal all the way against the return stop and re tightened the MC mounts. My theory is that if over the last 9yrs the MC was moved away from the pedal the cylinder travel would be reduced. Theres 2-3mm of play in the mountings which equates to around 10% of the travel.

At the end of the day bs theories aside. Sat morning before I pulled it apart an enthusiastic down shift required double clutching and rev matching other wise it would spit it out. Now as long as I rev match it drops into gear.
