Hey guys,

My car is currently sitting on a dyno with 60lb injectors in it and a new cat welded in without flanges. I bought my X2 second hand off a genuine guy off the forums whom he said Monster Torque in WA returned the car to stock AND unlocked this X2. But my tuner is saying he cant put the new maps onto the car because its saying its vin locked. Ive been on the phone to the bloke I bought it off and I totally believe him, which is making me think my tuner is trying to get an extra couple hundred bucks out of me. I did plug it in when I first bought it to check to see if I could find device married or 'aftermarket' or anything written in it but I couldnt see anything like that.

I have heard that there are problems with second hand X2's with this kind of thing but I thought I should be sweet.

At this stage its looking like I will just have to buy a brand new X3 tommorrow for $795, is that still the benchmark price for these?

Has anyone got any ideas? They would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Dean

yeh look bud the x2 had a limited timeline b4 being offlined anyway , urs may of already been on the cut list so it may just be a paperweight now anyway

yep ballpark figure for x3 is anywhere from 650-800 depends how much your tuner loves u

being a manual you are safe assuming it is unlocked, we came accross a owner supplied Xcal 2 a while back that would not work at all, all appeared good but it would not accept a tune.

Is yours accepting the tunes and just crashes when trying to flash the car or will not accept the tune

Its not accepting the tune by the sound of what he was telling me, what does that mean?

By the looks of it im just gna have to fork out the money for a new x3 in the morning. So you never could get the owner supplied x2 that was rejecting tunes to work mick? Any ideas why? Is it possible it was offlined by sct or something?

my customer purchased it second hand, it appeared to have an internal failure, new X3 rectified the problem.

A xcal 2 will not accept an tune file with ZF tune data in it, I know you said yours is a manual but is your tuner using the correct strategy? I would assume he is but something to check otherwise it sounds like you should be asking for you money back

Thanks for your help mick, much appreciated! My tuner found another second hand X2 for me which saved me $500+, so I'll be sending the old one back!

Heres a screenshot of the issue, looks like it is actually still locked to the previous owners car. Even though both the owner and tuner thought they unlocked it? Very Strange.
