I am wondering how many have been produced though and the percentage of problems?????

Correct, how many thousands of cars have been produced and how many have serious probs.

Mine 15000 klicothingymajigs-no problems,I think you have to remember,at the end of the day its only a bloody Falcon!

Does anybody find that there gearbox crunches when you change into 5th gear at high revs ?

Does this statement give us an indication of the driving habits of this dude?

Sounds to me that you've been flogging the sh*t out of your T.

Everyone has issues with new cars. The way you communicate with your dealer / service personel makes all the difference.

Go in with an attitude, making all sorts of inflamatory remarks will get you absolutely on the wrong footing.

Sure, I have had some problems;

But they have all been dealt with without problems at my dealer.

But then again, I'm silver streaked, don't thrash the sh*t out of my car, and have had only minor commonly reported issues which are easily covered by warranty.

At the end of the day, if you are expecting Supercar performance, then you should also be expecting supercar prices.... The XR6T is a fantastic performance car at an extremely low cost. It needs some more development work which will cost a bit more money. Series II may address these issues, but at what cost?

I personally wouldn't have it any other way. I've got my basic workhorse at a great price, and it leaves me lots of money in reserve to modify it the way I want to.

To everyone, Have a Merry Xmas, and a Happy New Year ! :festive:

PS: XR6ISM, Go get your GTR. You will never be happy with your T because your perception of it has forever been tainted!

Everytime I jump in my "T" I fang her good and hard and too date have had no major problems with her (other than the brake squeal which FORD are looking into for me). I think this car was made to be driven hard...and that's the only way I know...GO HARD OR GO HOME!!!!!!woohoo

Hey guys.

Just needed to vent some anger so I figured I may as well post up and see how all you guys went with simular problems/resolutions.

Sorry to hear about your dramas. I went through a similar thing but got it resolved

Some they do and some they don't, and some you just can't tell.

Time for you to start screaming at your dealership. It is amazing what a raising of vocal frequency can do to inspire action, shouldn't have to do it I know, but it usually works. I'm pleased that I picked a terrific dealership. I had a few probs as well and they fixed everything, replaced diff etc, even when they knew the car had been modifed. Hang in there because when they go well, they go well. :hohoho:

Nope - but not that I've tried.

I use 5th as a highway economy gear, and leave it in 4th if I want to give it some (responds better, sounds better). I'm not in the NT, so that gives me more than enough rope to hang myself with...

Anyway, bottom line is, you're not happy with your car as it stands, so get it seen to. I'd imagine most people here want you to experience the car the way they do, and the only way that's going to happen is if it's fixed.

Turbotom, your getting me wrong here....my car didnt go past 3000 RPM till I left the dealer after my 3k service. If anything, I babied my car way more then I should of. I wash the thing every week, I warm it up every time, I let it cool down every time, the car has not been thrashed. BUT, with that being said, every now and then I like to give it a good squirt. I dont race the car off the lights (first time was against the gt, couple nights ago) so most of my squirting is done in fourth gear on the freeway. I just find that under this circumstance, the gearbox crunches if I change into 5th quickly, if I change slow, no problems !

I dont think that I treat my car bad, and I dont think that my expectations are to high when I expect a 50K car to run without any problems.

Either way, im assuming the worst at the moment from ford, but ill see what happens when I actually speak to them. Maybe they will impress me and do a good job the first time around.

I hope ford dont make me completely regret my decision to stick with them.

GDH.

Hopefully it wont have to resort to yelling, id rather ask them nicely and have it resolved, but if they dont then I will have no choice.

These Xmas holidays I have some time off work so ill get my car looked at, hopefully everything will be resolved and I can go back to enjoying my car like I used to.

we have 1 minor cosmetic defect on our T which is a splodge on the door which will be resprayed.

I think someone else may have said this in another post, but because the falcon is such a popular car, the demand is very high there fore quality control suffers. keep in mind it's a series 1.

We have an AU2 forte as well. 3 years old on sunday, 1 problem in 3 years and 70 000 km aint bad. oil leaking on steering rack or something. we didn't even notice and it was fixed without a problem at the last service. I think the falcon is a great car and we have been happy with every falcon we have owned.

Like someone else said, if I am hammering the car, I stay with 4th. However when it comes time to return to normal road speeds, the revs falling, never above about 2,500 - 2,750rpm, the gear box does crunch. Hasn't always done it.

I treat 5th like an overdrive, only ever relatively gently compared to the other gears (which do cop a thrashing. If I wasn't going to thrash it, I would have saved ten grand and bought a Futura wouldn't I??)

Haven't spoken to the dealer about it yet either.
