.....without any real problem

brake shudder times 2

windscreen noise > 120 times 2

water pump seal

radiator replacement

tail shaft vibration

I can't believe you listed that stuff and said "without any real problem"

I'd hate to see your idea of a 'real' problem...

But let's see.....

2nd new XR6 ute....2nd time I've had the entire long motor replaced before 10,000km

Coolant leak after 4000km - fixed....supposedly

Going in again Mon to have coolant leak done again

Interior fuse cover falls off

Centre console hinge replace

A lot to put with for having one of the sexiest utes on the Coast.

Hopefully they get the series II all right.

I once bought a 1983 Honda Accord hatch brand new. In the first 2 weeks the gearbox was rebuilt due to failure of 2nd gear synchromesh. The hatch leaked and the car flooded. The dash rattled. The wheel alignment changed at random causing the car to pull to the left without warning - one wheel alignment expert suggested the whole front subframe was moving, but he couldn't work out why or how!!

That car was an absolute lemon - but had a reputation as the Japanese BMW.

I think the moral is that all models have examples with problems. The perfect car doesn't exist. But, if the virtues of the T (including price) are important to you, then you have to accept the current (average for an Australian car) quality control.

If not, then shell out twice as much or more for an equivalent Euro or Jap car - just don't imagine this will make you immune from quality hassles - it ain't necessarily so! (though a Lexus will give you a better chance than most)

Cheers

Why dont we all fax something to Ford. If someone can dratt a letter regarding common problems and telling Ford to get off their ass and fix them up, it will put a bit of pressure on them to get things sorted out.

I am particularly concerned with the brake shudder, and I will not buy the car untill its propertly sorted out amongst other things. I'm really holding off untill the brakes and gearbox are sorted as this will probably be the last new petrol powered car I ever buy. I reckon in 15 to 20 years time we will be using alternative fuels.

Nothing man made is perfect, unfortunately cars thrown together in Australia are not perfect either.

My T is almost a year old and has 26,000ks.

At the 15,000k service I mentioned the brake shudder (fine until spirited mountian driving at 10,000ks).

Rear windows not working from rear switches (only happened twice and fixed itself).

Creaking steering.

Stalled when driving in stop start traffic (only happed twice).

All these probs were rectified at the 15,000ks service, no argument just solutions, even the problems that were not evident at the time.

Perhaps some of your problems are more dificult to resolve than mine but, sounds like half your problem is your dealer.

I have mates with new BM's and they still b**ch about the things that go wrong, and the dramas involved in rectifing them. And I dont even think about asking Mark about what has stuffed up on his $125,000 Range Rover lately unless I have an hour to spare. Then there are the mates wives/girlfiends with Korean cars, (sorry mate that car is 4 years old and we cant get that part for it anymore, try the wreckers they have plenty of them).

My top of the range Pajero had to be taken away on a tilt tray when it was less than 6 months old (after 4 months of the old 'no error code it the computer, you must have imagined it sir' type cr@p).

So my T isnt perfect but I love it! and I have certainly had worse!

I have even conviced my next door neigbour to get one.

I use mine for work everyday, for carting the family about on weekends, towing car trailers and hooning, all of which it does admirably, all without using many L/100ks.

The performance, looks and practicality far outweigh any problems I have had.

I agree, every day use and minimal problems.

Far more than everyday performance though.

I agree with your sentiments. Driving up to QLD today pulled up

for fuel just before Armidale , only to have pointed out to me the rapid discharge of coolant coming from my T. Ambled down to the local dealer to seewhat could be done.

"yeah we'll fix it " had to wait 4.5 hours for all to be fixed (water pump o ring), cooling system pressure tested etc . Even gave everthing a thing a good clean afterward. They had jobs everywhere from locals that had to go out before tommorrow. Could have bumped me if they had chosen to..15 Hours after departure I arrive in Brisvegas

After 12000ks of hard driving , I have had todays inconvenience ,brake shudder and heat shield rattle.

Would I get rid of my T...... no way.

Understanding there are some disgruntled T owners out there, some rightly so, I wonder how many owners on this site would actually get rid of there cars. I wonder ?

Whislt spleen venting is understandable , there is not the comensurate amount of posts singing the praises of this Car.

Poll any one ??? Should it stay or should it go ??

Our t is driven every day and has done 36000 km's and only have had three faults.

Fault 1 bonnet cable and catch fixed at 3000 km service.

fault 2 leaking radator fixed with new rad.

Fault 3 brake shudder I fixed this my self dba gold disc's and QFM pads no shudder and brakes better.

Would I get rid of the t never.

I do agree there may be some bad ones out there but I have found that they usaully can be fixed.

I also find if you do not abuse the dealer staff they are more likly to help you with your faults.

Ian

Yea, Im happy with mine I spose. The trouble is you get used to it .Got to take some mugg for a spin who has never been in one, then you hear the oohh and ahhhs, and the complements, you just realize what a KICK ARSE car you have actually got!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know guys, my old man bought a Pajero Exceed and a 350Z, neither cars have had any problems WHAT SO EVER.

Im still not pissed off at ford, nor would I sell my car yet, it all depends on how ford treats me when I go back with these issues. Does anybody find that there gearbox crunches when you change into 5th gear at high revs ?
