Hi guys,

I want to lower my ute, but have been reading associated problems with the back end.. CV joints ect, and ive already got a knocking sound..

Whats the best way to go without blowing out my wallet, reset leafs with camber kit? whats everyones opinion in order to safe guard the joints in the back end?

we got a thread here --->http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/58487-anyone-lowered-an-fg-ute-yet/page__hl__%20lowered%20%20ute

id sort out your knocking sound first before lowering. as it might get worse.

if you go any lower than standard you take that risk of something going wrong.

yeah went through that one, seems no one has pin pointed the cause of the noises - alot of different ideas. I purchased my car from ahg mitsubishi im taking it back under warrenty but if their service team is anything like their used car salesman I wont get anything done and ill have to pay for it myself.

as for the lowering, seems its a risk lowering the ute.. worth it? maybe

is it worth it? for me yes as I put 20's on. the thing looked like a 4x4.

iv got ssl up front with reset rears to match. so far no problems. approx 500 ish for that combo. about 700ish for repacement rear lowered leafs. if you want shocks that's extra on top of those prices.

some people get no probs, some get heaps. the amount of power and the way you drive it also affects things.

there are not that many places noises can come from in utes. its pretty basic under their.

okay back when I was calling around I rang herrod motorsport and they where in the process in fixing this issiue. unlucky for me I had to act right away. my mate has a xr50 auto and got there rear leaf installed and has never had a problem. never changed cv's or anything.

looking at doing the same with my XR ute but a bit unsure with resetting the rear leafs. looking at getting new leafs with poly bushes and heavier shocks from pedders for $900 installed hopefully that will help with the axel tramp aswell (its a manual)
