Mick do you think the way the power comes on and the low down torque of the turbo would effect reliability compared to the v8? That's the only problem with the turbo it would definitely be getting a tune whereas the ss wouldn't.Most of these type of forums are full of people who've had problems with their cars, these are the first place disgruntled customers seek out to rubbish the car or get advise when something breaks (not just here, but all new car forums in general). If your not seeing a million threads on here either with people ford bashing,or the same type of "why has my car broke this" threads then odds on your fairly safe.TBH,it's not entirely fair to compare the g6et to an ss either,if your choice was a new calais v 6litre vs a 4 y/o g6et for the same price it'd be a no brainer for me,I'd take the calais,The ss not so much, bit to bogan for me. And common, like Bogans. They do nothing for me. I had a SS Crewman(not as Bogan) its a great motor, but uses heaps more fuel and my Turbo smashes it. Best of both worlds. With a touch of class. (aparently when voltage dropped at idle the aircon would switch off)The only other issue starting to appear is slight brake shudder. I will get the discs machined at the next service. (around 60K)Love the car and would buy the same again. (unless I can stretch to a GT-E with supercharger when the finance is up)Cheers,Pete

I don't drive like a grandpa either as I average 15l/100km. Annihilated an ss in a drag this week and my car is stock and he had his car rolling before launch. Would be disappointed to be in an ss when pulling up to turbo fords.

Anything to look out for etc? My last ford was a ba mkii f6, and it was very unreliable, had a few issues with it. Tossing up between a g6e and ve ss, I'd like to get the ford but not sure after having so many issues with the f6.

You get alot of Aussie car for your money I reckon and good crash ratings for both.
