I was wondering if anyones windows and sunroof closed automatically when the car is locked?

If not can it be wired up to do so?

l reckon it probably can.

When we bought our previous car (TS50) amongst the many things they try and flog you such as tinted windows, sound deadener etc was a window lift kit (l think that was what it was called) l cant remember exactly how it worked but l think it automatically raised the windows when you armed the alarm. Would be a worthwhile mod l think provided it can be done for not too much $$.

did the alarm people do it or someone else?

Not sure who would have done it Chris. Could have been the dealer or most likely an outside contractor.

The car already had an alarm but l guess it wouldnt have needed one anyhow, it probably could have been triggered from the immobiliser keypad when locking the car. l dont think it was a simple mod, there was some wiring required. It wasnt just a case of setting some code in the body control computer.

Maybe on the BA it is, would be worth asking a dealer.

It would have been really nice if you could hold down the lock button on the remote which would close the windows and/or sunroof.

It's not exactly a feature restricted to the high priced Europeans either, as far as I can remember, the current model Expensive Daewoo Astra has this feature too.

I can't really imagine this would be a possibility with an aftermarket option, though?

My current car (BMW 323i) does exactly that:

When you hold down the unlock button on the remote control it start winding down the windows and then the sunroof opens - you let go of the button when they have opened the amount you want.

When you hold down the lock button the opposite happens and they start to close.

This is really handy. Opening is good as you can have the windows down and the roof open as you approach your car in a parking yard and have it significantly cooler by the tiem you arrive.

Also good as you can close and accidentally open windows or the roof as you walk away.

This is one of the tings I will miss in my XR6T when it turns up.

However auto windows versus phenomical power and speed - I know which way I've gone :)

that's what I want exactly...been quoted $225 to get done..

Is that via a Ford dealer or a third party company?

If it's third party, did they mention whether it's compatible with your current remote?
