Tps Failure?

 MY ROD GOT OUT

Recommended Posts

What are the signs of a failing tps? I've heard stalling at idle etc, but car is currently idling rough and has a constant popping noise from the exhaust when slowly revving in neutral up to 2k thinking it might be that? Sorry for new topic but I'm either thinking tps or coils/plugs although isn't missing under boost.

Thanks everyone

Failing TPS is usually accompanied by limp mode and check engine light.. And very fluctuating revs at idle.. Almost stalls then revs itself to 2 grand.

From my experience..

As with sharp dressed panda I had the same symptoms in my NA XR6, engine light and always struggling in the low revs

Should be able to pick up a second hand tps for about $50 from a wrecker (ford wanted $300 to do this). Probably worth changing anyway and if its not that then no real harm done to your wallet.

If you can pick up a cheapie change it yourself.. But do you have access to a code reader? With that sort of behavior I'd assume it's throw an engine code.. I'm leaning towards coil packs though or maybe a car converter starting to break?

My na is doing exactly the same as you described bellato. That mil light but not too worried as people said its just the cat having 2 different readings on the o2 sensors? Only when its cold its a bitch with idle and driving, it'll be fine then a second later it'll be like all fuel is cut, then a second later its fine. Only happens the one time when its cold and after about 100m of driving all good.. :/
