MY ROD GOT OUT Member 434 Member For: 14y 5m 4d Posted 01/07/12 10:17 PM Share Posted 01/07/12 10:17 PM What are the signs of a failing tps? I've heard stalling at idle etc, but car is currently idling rough and has a constant popping noise from the exhaust when slowly revving in neutral up to 2k thinking it might be that? Sorry for new topic but I'm either thinking tps or coils/plugs although isn't missing under boost. Thanks everyone

And very fluctuating revs at idle.. Almost stalls then revs itself to 2 grand. From my experience..
MY ROD GOT OUT Member 434 Member For: 14y 5m 4d Posted 01/07/12 11:17 PM Author Share Posted 01/07/12 11:17 PM Ok, am just worried cause I extended the looms myself and was thinking maybe one of the solders is dodgey, but it's only just started idling a bit rough (needle doesn't really move at all) and yeh popping noise when revving in neutral. Bf manual if that helps

MY ROD GOT OUT Member 434 Member For: 14y 5m 4d Posted 01/07/12 11:33 PM Author Share Posted 01/07/12 11:33 PM Tried high gears up hills etc to try and see if it misses and nothing, might just be a dodgey sparkplug? But they are pretty new and have been ok so far, hence y Im thinking coil, but car has only done 60,000km, confused.

Probably worth changing anyway and if its not that then no real harm done to your wallet.

But do you have access to a code reader? With that sort of behavior I'd assume it's throw an engine code.. I'm leaning towards coil packs though or maybe a car converter starting to break? That mil light but not too worried as people said its just the cat having 2 different readings on the o2 sensors? Only when its cold its a bitch with idle and driving, it'll be fine then a second later it'll be like all fuel is cut, then a second later its fine. Only happens the one time when its cold and after about 100m of driving all good.. :/
