They should have replaced the header tank and all coolant/heater hoses and flushed cooling system with degreaser thoroughly, by the looks of it they havent done that, take it back

Unless its headgasket but surely they wouldve checked condition of auto oil and engine oil

I'm taking it down now to be looked at tomorrow.

Does it look like enough to have stuffed the gearbox already?

If it was milkshaked again would it be all milky not just top?

No box will be fine as new heat exchanger will be on it looks like they havent cleaned it properly or replaced everything needed, when we do them we replace header tank, thermostat and o ring, all coolant and heater hoses and prior to that we flush the whole system with degreaser while the engine is running with the old parts (except heat exchanger) fitted, this ensures there is no contamination left in the system

Alright, here's how it went down.

The header tank / coolant hoses weren't changed over as it isn't needed apparently.

They did flush it through twice and road test it.

The ford service boys ASSURE me that some residual fluid is completely normal and will have absolutely no negative effect on the cooling system.

It is only in the cooling system, not the transmission lines, and all the oil was flushed out correctly, it's just residual from the hoses.

They have guaranteed me that it is not a problem at all, you just have to drive it out, they have seen it many times before.

I insisted that they take it again tomorrow and give it another big flush out just for piece of mind, since I'll be going on a 2000km round trip to QLD on Thursday.

I'm fairly relieved with the positive information they gave me, and seem to know exactly what is happening.

They were also more than happy to do the flush tomorrow for me.

If anything goes wrong, It'll be up for them at warranty again, but I'm confident that what they have told me is correct.

that's crap, those header tanks are a pain in te arse to clean out and if I was a customer and my header tank looked like that after a repair I would be spewing, that's why we replace them AND FORD PAYS FOR IT!! also you do need to replace the coolant hoses as oil contamination leads to premature swelling and leakage AND FORD ALSO PAYS FOR THAT, EVERY TIME WITHOUT FAIL, they have done a substandard job and you will pay for it in the long term but hey if your happy......

When one leaves our stables it looks brand new, as it should, goes to show the difference in dealer work accross the board

Wouldn't say happy mate, but not much of a choice at the moment, this holiday leave has been set back 3 times farking up my working life, my girlfriends and the guys at work, I can't stuff them around again.

I'll look into getting them to replace the header tank and all hoses if residual fluid is still there after flush and tip.

I don't mean to come across careless I've just been under so much stress to make this work, I'll take any excuse to have a break and just drive it on the trip.

Edit: When I talk to the service manager tomorrow to ensure those parts get replaced after I return from my trip. Bionic may I have permission to use your comments as an anonymous source from another detailing what should be done?
