RZR Member 30 Member For: 13y Posted 16/06/12 06:33 AM Share Posted 16/06/12 06:33 AM Sooo, front passenger door will not actually lock when I lock the car, and will consequently unlock the rest of the car when the handle is pulled. Does anyone have an idea on what it may be? (my thoughts are actuator...)How would I problem solve and narrow down what it would be?thanks Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/80610-passenger-door-not-locking/ Share on other sites

Mine had the same issue about a year ago when a lot of rain I think must have slipped in to the inners of the door through the window seal. I think shorted something - but only temporarily. I couldn't lock my doors when this happened - at all, any of the doors. Your inside ceiling probably comes on as well as if the doors are opened? I found that after a while when things must have dried out - and I had driven over some speed humps, the ceiling lamp went out (meaning the door sensors thought the doors were fully closed again). Once this happened, I could lock the doors again. Sorry, didn't do anything proactive about it. I did take to a tuner to check out - but they couldn't find anything wrong and suggested changing out the door closing actuator. But I never went down that path because of the expense and by the time I got a booking slot to take it to the tuners, the car had sorted itself out via the speed humps It was the front drivers side door from memory that had the issue. Hope you can get it sorted out - sucks on security (had to pretend I was locking the car in public places for a little while ) Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/80610-passenger-door-not-locking/#findComment-1254971 Share on other sites

Its quite wierd...and im hesitant to take it to ford here, as they dont have the best rep... Happened to me a few too...One door actuator/worm screw is busted which consequently unlocks all the other doors when it is opened - Even if you've locked it...Do you hear a whirring sound? Like the door is trying to lock/open? If so, it will more than likely be the worm gear. If not, the small actuator motor may be gone. Can get the worm screw off ebay for about $20 shipped, or there are full repair kits for about $50. Ford or a shop will charge you $200 odd becuase they have to replace the entire assembly, not just the gear... It's not that difficult to do, but is a bit akward the first time round... There's a good thread on here about how to do it, but I can't remember where. Somewhere in the general tech section - Do a search and it should come up mate!Good luck with it mate Dan Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/80610-passenger-door-not-locking/#findComment-1255184 Share on other sites
