Great reading the comments- whats the verdict, traction control on or off when launching?

off for sure its much quicker but just be careful not too spin it up too hard

Had a play arond with this last night with my ute on some 'closed private roads'

Only used traction control on and was still lighting up like a boss, had to be dabbing the clutch a bit, was great fun though

Did about 3, how bad do you think this is for the car?

I wasnt 'dumping' the clutch but wasnt riding it out too slow either.

It isn't launch control, it is launch assist & is intended to get the turbo spooled up by allowing you to have the accelerator pedal flat & not over-rev the engine (& not bog down either). What you do with the clutch is up to you - feather it, dump it or something in between.

The auto transmission version is similar - trans in neutral, accelerator flat, pull trans into drive & off you go. In the auto, it limits the revs to 3000. If the auto is in park, the engine revs to the redline.

In any case, the traction control will intervene or the wheels will spin, depending on the state of the DSC/traction control button.

you wont launch faster without it, than someone who can use it right.

NOT full throttle, only slightly more than is needed to get it to the 3500rpm 2-step. the spark is being cut, sending raw fuel to the turbo where it ignites and spools it harder than you would get at a regular 3500rpm throttle, in neutral.
ride the cluch out, and feed the throttle in, smoothy, and quickly. keep the wheel spin in check but get it to wide open throttle, with the clutch out asap. remember, these cars have peak torque from around 2300rpm, so no need to ride it to redline.
snap 2nd and away you go.

the rpm cut works in any gear, when 'stationary' (more like under 4-6km/h) but is designed for first, and launching in higher gears isn't going to help. ever.
