As the title suggests, I'm heading to Brisbane next month and am wanting to get the ZF serviced while I'm down there.

Any recommendations in the Redlands or nearby?

I think I'll use genuine fluid.

M1 automatics I spoke with today at the recommendation from a member here sound like they know their sh*t.

I would be supplying the lifeguard6 yourself though, not too many trans shops I have spoken to keep much of it in stock. Get it from motospecs.

I have done heaps of research into other fluids - I know most advertised as being suitable will work, however because ZF refuse to approve anything other than Shell M1375.4 which is rebranded as lifeguard6 most shops wont risk it coming back on them. Googling today brought me to some fluid analysis results that showed LG6 has basically the same properties as Mercon SP - a spec which all the Nulon/Gulf Western/Penrite products meet.

I myself in two weeks are having a trans cooler installed bypassing the heat exchanger and I am going to try another fluid not yet mentioned often but meets the above spec - and I am going to only do a pan drop service with the stuff rather than flush. They guy I'm going to backs this stuff 100%.

I want to get the work done and see how it goes before I reveal what product is but basically its much the same stuff as the previous vendors (Nulon, Penrite etc) offer.

Google 'LG6 Mercon' for some interesting reading.

Thanks mate. I stuffed up my dates though and I might be going down next week! I had resigned myself to going locally for a bit more coin.

See how I go.

Where's M1 at?

My normal mechanic does mine these days, It is only a box & no more or less complicated to do than any other. I've even done a full flush on the ground on one of these. As for fluid ive always used transmax z & wheather or not they recommend it or not quite simply it works. On my original stock box it even minimalised slip & flare that was starting to appear after the hammering we had put it through. Martini race oils have now developed an oil for these, im abit skeptical to try it because the castrol stuff has worked so well for so long but they do make top shelf gear so can only imagine it'll be another good option.

Martini is going in mine next week.

Let us know how it goes. What's it worth as a comparison?
