Driving With New Injectors Without Retune

Hey guys, a question as the title states....If I put new injectors in the car, will it have to be retuned straight away, or will it run normally until I can drive it to get it tuned?

Reason for asking is I live in gladstone, and am looking at getting it tuned in brisbane (bout 500kms away). I can get a set of seimen 60lbers for just over 300 bucks, whereas the guy in brissy (elite auto) was gunna charge me $850 installed. My understanding is injectors are not that difficult to change (I changed the ones in my '06 corolla easy as!).

Cheers,

Peter

If you have it tuned already maybe you could send them the flash tuner and get them to load a basic map for those injectors in so it will run but just keep it off boost till its custom tuned.

$850 supply and install. The tuning place would have added a bit more cause they supplied the injectors, so fitting shouldn't be too expensive. Ask them how much they'd charge to fit them, shouldn't take longer than an hours labour. If its still too much, towing it there once the injectors are fitted would again be too much, maybe change them in the driveway/street of the tuners?

Yeh, I could do that....lol. I will check to see how much he charges just to fit them. And yes, I understand he is going to mark them up a little to increase his cut ;) I would do the same!

The other way to do it, I have family in brissy. So I may be able to change them over at one of their houses, and limp it over to the mechanics...im still only in the processing stage, havent made my mind up about anything yet...

Thanks again guys for your help!

Cheers,

Peter

I will not do a tune for a car to start running on different injectors without first testing the injectors as I have been caught out in the past from a faulty injector that a customer supplied, I lost a few hours rechecking my tune, diagnosing the car etc, customer was not interested in paying for my time, If I supply the injectors the problem is mine to sought out with the supplier, not to burden the customer.

you will be lucky if the car starts with 60 lb injectors fitted let alone run anynear correct to drive it, you also risk damaging the o2 sensor, cat convertor, spark plugs and damaging the bores from bore wash

Ok. Do you tune xr6t's? im assuming you are 'pitlane performance'. Are you in brisbane? and if you are, how much do you charge for injectors?
