Hi Guys,

Im new to this forum, just recently purchased an 05 BA MkII XR6T, I dont want to do any major mods to it, but I do want to get a growler CAI to get it breathing better and add a little more power, my friend reckons I will be wasting my time doing this if I dont have the standard cat converter removed, is this true? I have read about hi-flow cats on this site, but was also wondering if you can just have the cat removed and replaced with straight pipe?

It's illegal in every state too and carries hefty fine. Don't have to to the cat with intake mods.

There will be some gains from doing a CAI, check out the BPR box or even just doing a f6 intake and KnN too.

Luckily for me the guy I brought the car off had the F6 cooler and piping installed, but that's all he had done performance wise. that's why I was thinking it would be a good idea to get CAI done as well, a bit more induction noise and a bit more power.

I have no idea what the OP is. Basically, I dont want to spend lots of money, but found I could do the CAI with a growler for around $500, seems like a cheap and easy mod to me, my concerns were that if I didn't replace the cat converter with a hi-flow cat it would be pointless doing the growler.
