Impellor may of reduced wheel weight by 1.6kg.. But if he did it without using power tools.. Bit of exercise in that.. He might've dropped another kg from physical exertion. Pazzo Donating Members 11,132 Member For: 14y 6m 5d Gender: Male Posted 01/06/12 04:36 AM Author Share Posted 01/06/12 04:36 AM To answer your question most spray packs/cans are 400ml. Now you have a rough cast wheel (which needed to be sanded 12 times, after you have removed all paint) that has primer filler, colour and clear coat. Now I'm unaware of the specific gravity of paint but lets say 1ml = 1gm.. I also consider this is conservative because I would think that paint has a higher specific gravity than water. Is it unreasonable to think that when painting 4 wheels that you would use a total of 4 cans. 1 for filler, 1 for clear coat and 2 for colour Therefore 4 X 400ml = 1.6 kgs. Do you still think there would need to be 10 coats? Further, this doesn't take into consideration that you are sanding the wheel 12 times. Hopefully this makes sense. As I have previously stated the wheels were polished for looks not weight reduction. But I was interested in the weight difference, because I understand the benefits of reducing static weight. CheersYou be better of going on a diet impellor and losing 10kg. The time and effort is beyond me really in sanding and polishing a stock wheel as they look $hit anyway.
