thanks for the info guys

pualie I wouldnt mind loosing low end much in favour of top end

im sure they would have cams to be used with or without vct, like honda vtechs ? , I feel like I have a vtech engine now lol

aslong as its not a step backwards im still set on getting one

That meant to be "not really a factor"? Or it is right how it is? Lol :/

haha woops, meant to be not really a factor.

boosted_rhino, if you want to loose bottom end then get your tuner to tune it that way, they can make your car feel like its gutless down low, then you get pinned into your seat as the boost kicks in or you can have a linear power curve through the rev range. All this can be achieved using the stock cam set up. VCT was developed by Ford, it is different from vtech. No one is against cams here but you really don't need them. There will be zero benefit to your application.

your rods will let go before you would even consider upgrading cams.

Only new to the forum and dont post very often or at all. The proclaimed 400+kw fg with standard turbo was tuned by LG Automotive in Townsville. The person tuning the car, from what I've been told, is only new to tuning these vehicles. Ian from Aitkenvale Auto has told myself that he will be taking a look at the car to see what has actually been done to get such numbers and believes it is pretty much bs and well unsafe for the motor etc. I believe Ian knows exactly what he is talking about as I have heard nothing but good things from his workshop and he has never gone wrong by myself, always aiming for the most power and doing it safely. He will be carrying out the work on my own fg and I would like to push for as much power as I can out of the standard turbo.

ye I know cams isnt needed, but I was thinking when the time comes for valve springs I might get a cam in there aswell

they sound nice plus reduces the amount of boost needed to make certain amount of power, from what ive seen crow cams show on youtube

I feel asif ppl are against cams around here lol

just say for the sake of the scenario;

im getting 360rwkw on e85 on max on my fg turbo

if I had a cam installed id get 360rwkw with less boost

then would I be able to put up the boost and go over 360rwkw barrier ?

what boost r u runing mate.??

You don't need cams with small turbo or built engine. 314 on 98 netted me 11.29@122.78 and 359 on E85 netted me 11.005 at 122.78 not 122.13 as posted in FG top 25. Someone will eventually crack a 10 no doubt.
