Taken it into to four different mechanics including ford, all who have had no idea and have suggested the obvious things like coil pack, fuel filter, manifold gasket among others. However we may have narrowed it down to the variable camshaft timing sensor as we have sporadically found this code come up on a couple diagnostic computers. Inspection of the sensor looks okay as it's not clogged up with thickened oil. But hopefully it's the solenoid on the inside which is playing up. Will keep the forum updated just incase someone has a similar issue. 1 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/80325-newbie-carquestions/page/3/#findComment-1259697 Share on other sites

Nothing worse than someone asking for help and then deserting the supporters who tried to help them and leaving them hanging for the solution. 2 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/80325-newbie-carquestions/page/3/#findComment-1259729 Share on other sites

Part of the problem was the sensor but it was also the cam phaser cavity which is the part that actually does the adjusting of the timing. Apparently nothing could have caused it and it was just pure bad luck.My mate who fixed it indirectly knows some of the ford engineers in melbourne who helped him diagnose it. Apparantly there has only been 1 of the sensors sold and 4 of the phasers australia wide. Or visa versa. Not sure how true that is but what I was told. Anyway car is all good now. Bit of a long dragged out hassle but had some family members pass away in the process which slowed things down.
