Been reading on/off for a couple of weeks now. Just bought my first ford after finally finishing uni and being able to afford a decent car. Shopped around for a while but decided that the G6ET was exactly what I was looking for. Paid for it this week from a dealer in NSW, should get shipped down here (SA) by mid/late next week. Black with the cashmere interior. Hopefully it looks as good in person as it does in the pics. Ive had an MTA inspection on it which came back practically perfect so I now its in good nick Couple of questions. Ive had a bit of a search on here but being a forum noob can't find much.1. Any suggestions on the best way to keep the interior leather/carpet clean and protected. Which products and brands have you guys found that works best.2. Is their a way to upgrade to have the Sat-Nav system. Either as an aftermarket add on, or going back through ford? :/3. Also has anyone put in DVD players in the back of the cars, either as a drop down screen on in the back of the headrests?Once the cars here I'll chuck some photos up, but basically its stock standard 08 model.Cheers.Sam

If you want the new touchscreen, that's not possible until someone breaks Ford's coding.

Has all been good and have fallen in love with it. No problems at all until now. Recently serviced by the dealer and underwent an MTA inspection in NSW which passed fine. However, last night took a mate who hadnt seen it yet for a drive. Gave it a lil bit but nothing major or prolonged and everything went okay...However, pulled back up in the driveway and notice a little bit of a shudder at low revs, kind of sounds like its misfiriing but im a massive noob so not really sure. The engine light didnt come on initially but after about 1km of test driving it at low speeds it now has.I left it overnight last night, started first thing this morning and it went fine for first 3-4 mins. (engine light still on) but then began to miss/shudder again. Almost as if something in the electronics clicked over.My noob thoughts in no particular order:1. Something simple like a plug or coil pack?2. Engine in limp mode since putting the footdown a bit and causing overboost for some reason.3. Something else to do with giving it a squirt.4. Vacuum hoses, although had a quick look and cant see or feel any splits. It drives fine at higher revs, can really only notice it at idle. Tried to get it into ford today but being a saturday they cant check it until Monday. I know they will try slog me for a diagnostics test as well. Ive gotten my brother atm to disconnect the battery at home for a while and just see if that resets any electronics. However im at work atm so cant see results of that til later. In the mean time im gonna try avoid driving as much as I can until it can be checked. On a further note, any South Australians know a good ford or general mechanic who could do a diagnostic check without slogging too much. My understanding is its a 2min test which they will try slog u 88bucks for, + more if u want them to ring and say what it is! BS if u ask me.It is still under 3 months warranty from the dealer, however I got it from NSW so not sure if id have to take it back up there or if its unreasonable for them to make me do that. If anyone has any idea about this also would be good.Sorry for long post :/Thanks in advance Add ReplyQuoteMultiQuoteEditBlog This

Again, first 3-4mins were fine with no shudder and now the engine light has turned off. After 3-4mins the shudder started again. No problem at higher revs. Engine light hasnt come back on yet after going around the block for 4-5 mins at different speeds.

As for car detailing don't wast your time with Supercheap and Repco, go through waxit.com.au . They sell to professional auto detailer's and carry a large range of supplies and brands. As for leather care I use Swissvax and they sell a leather care kit - http://www.waxit.com.au/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=235&category_id=3&manufacturer_id=26&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1If yours is a MK1 without the touch screen just buy a TomTom its a lot cheaper and from what I have read the factory ford system is not that great. When I first got mine I had rough idle and on cold starts really bad surging, this was fix under warranty through means of a software update.
