Ok well I have a BA xr6t which is in great condition and has 305rwkw and I need to sell this ASAP so I can get a fg f6 ute, so my question is how much would the car yard take for this

I've had the car in the papers and online for just over a month now and I have had only 2 people come and look at it, so my last resort would be the car yard, but I still want a decent price for it

Unfortunately yeah that's probably about right, it took me months to sell mine privately. Most private buyers now days are quite difficult to deal with and genuine buyers are hard to come buy.

Be prepared for countless ridiculous offers that usually consist of "it's all I got.." People usually make offers now days with out even driving the car, WTF? Are they really that lazy?

Don't get discouraged though, there are still genuine buyers out there you will just have to wait quite a while to find them.

We're never going to be able to answer that question.

Take it to the car yard and find out.

Depends how good your are at negotiating and how desperate they are for a sale I guess.

Usually wear them down to the bottom line then mention you have a car to trade too, then try arguing them up to a decent trade in price.

Allot of effort but you'll spend just as much dealing with idiot private sale buyers.

/\ true. go to buy a car at the end of the month, or even better the end of the financial year. go in a couple days before end june and be ready to buy. be willing to walk out if they are 'close' to what you want. ive had a dealer let me walk back to my car then chase me down before I actually left. they know that if they let you leave, the next yard prol wont, so if they can possibly keep you there, they will.

if they let you drive away, then leave your number before you go with your offer still standing and leave it a day. if they havent contacted you then you know they genuinely cant do any better, and you can go back and do the last deal they offered.

remember they want turn over and cash flow almost as much as straight out profit- especially at the end of the financial year- when management is breathing down their necks and they have their last chance to get bonuses.

that's how id go.

Also, if you have the time (like I do), go and get quotes and push them.

I know most dealers won't want to give you one until you're 'definitely' ready to buy and it's never their 'best' price but that's not the point here. Once you have a quote, you're set. I finally managed to get one so I made a copy and blanked out the dealer name, ABN, salesman contact details, etc. but left everything else so they can see what the breakdown is, etc. I talk to the next dealer and mention my best quote price (I have the copy on me if they query it) and if they're not willing to better it in a written quote either by giving me a better price or adding options to the price then I walk and say thanks very much. If they better it, I make a copy as before and continue on.

Then rinse and repeat. I'm visiting the sixth dealer tomorrow morning and hopefully seven and eight in the afternoon. At the end, take the best deal to whoever your local dealer is and start negotiating. Your local dealer gets a bonus if they sell you the car so they're normally the best to do the final deal with. So far I've been getting $300-$600 off at each subsequent dealer and sometimes an option (dash mat or headlight protectors or whatever) thrown in.
