Hey guys,

I have a FG XR6 T and want to know if I should install an EARLS inline turbo filter as I am worried the stock filter and pipe may be blocked or starving the turbo of oil. I have heard numerous horror stories. Is the earls filter a good replacement ? Or is it just as good to clean/replace the stock ford filter.

Do you think the 65000km without the filter ever been cleaned could have been starving the turbo of oil ?

65000 should be allright if services have been kept up. The earls is def worth it as it flows better and is alot easier to clean/replace. Just make sure you get the one with the screw fittings not the crimped fittings as the crimped ones tend to leak.

NO NO NO.

The factory setup is fine. Removing the existing filter is quite easy with a deep throat 24mm socket from Supercheap ($7) and maybe a 24mm open end can help.

If it is clean then just remove the filter and put back without filter. It is not needed in a clean engine.

If there is crap in it just replace with a new one.

Just make sure you use good sythetic oil.

If the line is all coked up then it is the owners fault for putting in crap oil. Its not the factory setup fault.

All these aftermarket braide lines are rubbish, a waste of time and money and those that say otherwise just like to spend money for nothing.

If it's under warranty let them fix it should it break. If you are approaching end of manufacturer warranty have a good tuner check it out and see if you can get a freebie turbo and oil feed line in the last week of warranty like I did, hahaha.

All the braided lines do is contaminate an already stable platform with debris .. stupid blingy looking things...

I agree with turbotrana, I ripped my filter out as soon as I brought the car and havent looked back. These are the only vehicles I know of that run an extra filter there.

I agree with turbotrana too. Remove the filter and blow through the pipe when it's off to make sure it's clear and run good oil from now on :)

Why did Garrett need this. If you had something big enough going through to cause the turbo bearings issues its probably already been through your motor and done damage then anyhow.
