I guess it could be just bad luck. I know Ive thrashed the sh1t out of my manual XR6T and havent heard a single groan from engine, gearbox or driveline, bar a few leaks that they fixed, and a popped turbo pipe. None of which were big deals gievn its lifestyle. Even the clutch has held up to my abuse.

Maybe you had bad luck, or maybe your driving style has contributed. Hard to say withoug watching you drive.

PS, dont even bother comparing quality of Aussie cars and Jap cars (and most European cars). The Aussie cars arent even quite up to the standard of Jap car makers back in 1980, especially Honda.

Seriously.

Aussie car makers need a major kick up the ass in terms of quality and reliability. Ive had Euro and Jap cars in the past, and they are WAY ahead of modern Aussie cars. (Although I admit the current fords are a step in the right direction and have left Expensive Daewoo in the dust...but both need much improvement still).

Boys & Girls,

Thank you all for the warm welcome into your unbiased and totally objective discussion forum.

I would firstly like to correct a mistake I made in my first email, I did not own a VY series II SS, it was in fact a VTII SS. (I might point out here that T and Y are next to each other on the keyboard and this contributed to the error)

Secondly, I would like to agree with the comments of Mickq in that the quality of Aussie made vehicles is unfortunatly very much below par when compared to Jap and Euro cars. I know everybody will start hurling abuse at me for saying this, but it is the truth. I am one of those blokes who sees things and calls things as they are, unlike ducatijb, who seems to have forgotten to take the blinkers off.

Maybe I should have kept my WRX.... but since insurance was costing me $4000 a year, I decided to the more economical option and buy the ford. The ford is great value for money as it offers a hell of a lot as a vehicle............. but sadly my friends, it aint a wrx. The wrx is a purpose built speed machine that would get from A - B on any road or race track in Australia quicker than the XR6T. Not by much, but nevertheless quicker. And I dare say it would not complain one bit.

And ZMAN, I am 185cm and 104kg, and the WRX was comfy.

I am looking forward to getting the Best out of my XR6t. Just hope it can live up to the hype.

im 199cm and 107kgs. I sat in the WRX and thought I was in a sardine tin. Even at your height the seat would have been all the way back. No good if your carrying passengers.

Different strokes I guess.
