Go to your local or nearest tester and see what they say. Can't be over a Cert 3 though, you won't qualify for the funding otherwise. I'm not sure who does it over in Melb but try DECA where henz went.

Actually now that I'm on the comp I just went to Journey's site

http://www.journeymanagement.com.au/home.htm

This pops up;

100% FREE Training

Training Organisations READ MORE

Read more link takes you here, so anyone wanting to find out how it's free and if you're eligible, click below! Unfortunately as stated above, it's a Victorian Training Guarantee, not the whole of Aus :(

Say you're an apprentice and should get it free lol.

I didn't show jack. Afaik they don't check it up as the other dude I spoke about earlier in here. Got talking to him in my forklift course and he wasn't an apprentice and was all good, didn't pay.

I'm now qualified but I signed up for everything before I finished my time which is what got me over the line. But nah didn't have to bring in papers or anything.

Worth a shot saying you aren't anyway lol. What's the worst they'll do? Deny you and get you to cough up the cash lol

hello everyone my names Cal and im 21 soon to be 22, im very eager to get into the oil and gas/mining industry, after going through the forums the past two months I have realised alot of you guys work up north as we say over here in WA (fifo) im just wondering how alot of you guys got in and what sort of jobs you guys do and if there is any courses that would give me a better chance, im interested in process operations and electrical, I have done a electrical pre app but unforntunatly that was in 2008 and ive now been told I will not recieve credits for most if not all the modules, I had been offered apprenticeships on a few occasions back in 2008 but I just wasnt ready at the time with personal life, but now im ready to get out there and give it a go! I have nothing holding me back now. Im willing to do almost anything up north just to get my foot in the door and hopefully go from there.

Any help and or advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks.

you are already in perth, get a good resume, find a mining magazine (should be some in Monadelpheous foyer when you drop your resume off) and apply for every contractor you see in that magazine.

start with a foot in the door job, don't aim for what you want yet, it takes time.

Ask Dazzler how long it took him. I changed jobs and did a trade just to get more of a shot at the mines.

oh and get your poly welders ticket

I think they need a few Porn Stars Pazzo. The guys don't get much action while at the mines so the mining companies need to hire in entertainment to keep the workers satisfied...

You could fulfil that role couldn't you? I hear payment can be made by cash or sexual favours...

On a serious note, I had a look last year but there's pretty much no on-site IT networking/admin/server stuff. Most of it is done from an office in a capital city and the pay is no different to other office jobs.
