Thanks mate. One question I found a little sneaky by them lol, asking what my expectation of the salary is. If I say too low, I might be offered that if successful..if I go too high, I might look too greedy and be rejected. Lol clever dicks..

I agree with Ralph.. Heaps of people are jumping ship an rushing out to the mines for big $.. And not saying its gonna happen but they need to be prepared incase it does.. Especially if they accept 'casual' employment..

Plus I'm jealous that I don't get 3 grand a fortnight sitting on my arse in a truck..

A week mate...

I'm still Construction technically making hay while the sun shines..

Once in the mine proper my pay will drop and I may have to pay my own airfares ?

But the future IS here :)

The gravy train is stopping @ the next station fella's. There's a downturn on the way in the mining industry so unless your already experienced and in a solid role, I would recommend staying put.

^^^ Good advice. Obtaining these positions is not easy. The industry operates on the expression: It's who you know, not what you know.

My opinion is: If your looking for Job security, stay put. If your looking for high pay with low security (living each week waiting for that tap on your shoulder) shoot over.

Don't get me wrong, some people enjoy the job jumping - but I don't.
