No guarantee of a job Driving a truck or any ongoing fulltime employment sorry...

If you successfully complete the training program, your casual rate will be increased and you will become a Casual Mining Technician until you become eligible for a permanent position.

They have unnaground now but the portal is in the old pit, big dumpies run night shift to bring out the ore the lil unnaground trucks drop at the portal stockpile. but....................... 2 new pits are coming soon, one 8ks out and one another 11k's I think. They will need 300 people by the end of this year, if you don't write off a truck in the first 12 weeks you will have a concrete job

Ah yep literally just finished reading over it again and read that haha. Also says you may apply for FIFO in the future..is that meaning after you're no longer a casual? Or you have to find your accom and commute? :s

Worth a try anyway :)

At the moment it's cloncurry residential for the first 12 weeks, about 20 minutes drive each way. They do this to support the town and their camp is currently full and they are hotbedding. After that it would be 8/6 fifo from cairns, townsville or brissie, works out to be 7/7.

Whats a ballpark figure on weekly rates for a punter to take up that job?

Trainees rate would be more than what I'm on dags. after that's done then you'd be on a bit less than Daz (coal pays more) but still easily into the 6 figure range for working half the year.

truthfully if it wasn't for contractual issues I'd be applying, applications close on the 10th

Is that a given or just what usually happens (not that I'm in a position to apply, lol)?

For the FIFO, does that mean you'd have to pay your own way to get from Brisbane to Sydney/Melbourne or is that not allowed?

depends on the mine and the came, some are residential only for full time workers, some are fifo only, others are a mix

and yeah you pay your own way for anywhere past brissie, set roster so flights are easy to book in advance.

not in a position to apply? all you need is a car license. I had some billy sitch I used to knob chasing me for a truck drivers job, gave her a call and she says do I need a license. FFS every job on every site needs a license

serious, and jobs like this don't come up very often with the big miners. You get all the perks once permanent eg 13% super

Ima be updating my resume tonight. Have a short career objective write up but atm its aimed at TA lol, might have to change that..

We have long time family friends in townsville, never met them myself but the husband is pretty keen keeping up to date how I'm going for a job. Old man come up with an idea of maybe putting my address down as their house (old mans friend from work said he noticed a heap of job offers once he moved to qld).

So if nothing works out I'll ring them up in townsville and see what they say about it

Only thing against this job for me is the hot bedding lol :/

And now gotta think whether to apply for this dump truck job or stick with the current guy I'm trying to get a job with (driller/borer for the NBN, for the guys who don't read Vic chat regularly :spoton: )
