For me to do that I'm a bit reluctant as I'm a carpenter. Carpenter as far as I see it, wouldn't really help out getting into another job like a trade assistant or an operator etc. What are people thoughts on that, bit iffy on that ^ if you ask me :/
sexual harrassment panda I see a red door and I want to paint it black Donating Members 5,919 Member For: 15y 2m 20d Gender: Male Location: Far north queensland Posted 19/05/12 06:51 AM Share Posted 19/05/12 06:51 AM mate was a chippy when the camp was getting put up at alcatraz, was good coin. Camp construction / expansion would be a foot in the door, but only short term jobs. with all your tickets just search for all construction contractors and then google some expansion or new mine projects. worth a shot.a lot of people try for TA jobs, problem is a lot of mines don't really use many ta's just tradies.

I'll start applying after Tuesday when I've done the truck licence, hopefully passing Yeh TA jobs get snapped up quick I have noticed lol

Personal opinion.. Did 6 months for them as an inspector. 21 on 7 off.. Travel back and forth from job was in the 7 off.. So in reality it was only 5 off.. 12 hour days were expected.. Coin wasn't even that great.. It was the same as alot of mobs who were offering 7/7..

I'm open to anything, the places I can get job emails from the better I know there's a heap of places that I could sign up to but anyone who has had personal experience from and says they're great, that's enough for me Thanks

What do you want to be? Operator - you aren't interested in the mines as such.. Mainly contractors.. But if you were willing to consider a bit of uni in the mix alot of mines offer cadetships to people to become 'Coal Technicians' or surveyors etc. Starting pay is 60k + Locality and you go up about 10k per year.. 3 years uni and you'll be on 120k easy.. Has been in the back of my head for some time. Depending what jobs are out there to be had, I'd for sure consider it.What I want is a well paying job so I can get myself 'ahead' as such financially. Just trying to be smarter about my future before its too late.Just the thought of doing another apprenticeship-like course annoys me as it makes me feel as though the carpentry was a waste and now doing another one lol. I know it wasn't a waste, just how it makes me feel. If that makes sense?? HahaAnd also you see other guys walk into jobs in the mines with sfa tickets and are on stupid money almost right away. Where I've done as much as I can to help myself and others done the same and its hard for them. Lol I'm not ranting if that's what you think, just baffles me lol

You didn't waste your time going into carpentry.. I always like the idea I've got something to fall back on.. I hate those guys you are talking about.. Probably 50% of the lads I went to highschool walked into mine jobs but that's definitely who you know.. Not what you know. I get to laugh at em now but I'm still working my arse off and studying to get ahead.
