Goes light rigid, medium rigid, heavy rigid, heavy combination, multi combination. Lr, mr, hr you only need to have your full licence for a year to get. Don't need to go in order, can start off from hr.Hc you need to have had hr for a year. Mc you need hc for a year before you can get that licence.Should be able to get the licence for free. If you don't have a cert over cert 3 (trade qualification) you get it for free thru the govt. At the place where I'm getting my tickets thru they don't seem to have checked ppls backgrounds. A guy that had a cert 4 in my class said he put himself down as having only a cert 3 and got it for free lolOh mind you..this is in Vic. Rules might be different as to which licence you can get first and how long you have to hold them for before getting the next step up. May need to have a certain amount of hours before getting the next licence? Not sure, best to check your local road authority. In NSW, you can get your LR and MR once you have your P2 licence (green P's) and you can get your HR once you've held your P2 for 12 months. To get your HC or MC you need to hold a Full Black licence and have held your HR for at least 12 months. If you go straight from HR to MC or have held HC for less than 12 months, you have to do both the HC and MC tests. For all licences, it will indicate whether you can drive Auto only, Auto plus Syncromesh or Auto, Syncromesh and Constant (Crash Box) Mesh. Doesn't look like the government pays for it though...Are you doing it through TAFE?

Actually I think that may be similar here with the p plates. Some dude come in after me and was on his P's but could go LR or MR as it hadn't held P's for a full 12months.Not through a tafe, company is called journey management if you want to look up but they just do tickets pretty much. Forklift, trucks, warehousing, plant operator (excavator, backhoe/front end loader and skid steer), cons. inductions, traffic mgmt, explosive power tools. There's a few more but I didn't do them. But pretty much every course there you get a card for it.Yeh bit of a story for my transmission choice lol. 2 day course (govt funds for a total of 3 days in case of failure you can come back for 1 day and try again)I went for the 18spd rangie and I was 95% fine with the gear changes just every now and then would stuff me up. Anyway it was 2 guys to each truck, so it was on our 2nd day about 10:45am and the other bloke driving. For some reason he accelerated down the rd and there was a parked truck up ahead on the side of the road. Truckie walks around the front and is on the steps getting something out of the truck - turns out that bloke is the owner of journey management lol. Anyway we went past and missed the door by less than half a metre. Teacher was like farrkkk why did you accelerate towards the truck?! Did you want to hit him?! Anyway he carried on and said let's go back to the depot. He went to his boss and explained what happened and said we're both not going for our licence and said he didn't feel safe with us driving. His boss, she said we can rebook using the normal clutch. As we came in before midday it wasn't considered a full day so the other guy rebooked for 2 whole new days with normal clutch. Teacher turned to me and said well we can go out and drive it'll be 1 on 1. But we won't be going out for the licence today (so I'd rebook for a single day, which might be in a month and I lose touch with it all) so I said nip bugger it, rather do 2 new days with normal clutch and be more confident with gears. Would rather that as I don't pay and have more chance of getting A licence, than go 18spd again, fail, NO licence..then any other attempts will cost me $850 IIRC.The teacher was pretty ordinary teaching. One time I was driving at a roundabout. School time so was busy. Put it in low instead of 2nd and he didn't say anything. Let me take off and was stuffed, move an inch before needing next gear by then a car came round n I was halfway out there. Was farkin pisses at the teacher for it as he didn't even say there was a 'low' gear..and other sh*t he didn't say/act upon. Fukkin glad he's not my teacher Monday/Tuesday. Only downside..I'm with the same bloke getting his licence...Sorry for the length of the post but yeh that's what happened. Still pissed about it all that I won't have the 18spd licence and I think I'll have to resit HR 18spd before HC (unsure if they have both syncro and non syncro boxes)Ahhh...fck life sometimes lol

In NSW, if you didn't do Crash Box for HR, you have to do it to get Crash Box on your HC or MC. Cheapest I found was $1000 for a weekend course including the test. Plus the few at the RTA to do the theory test and get a new licence at the end.

Just the teacher was a wank. Like the first day we came back to depot and I ducked off to the dunny and we had to go reverse the truck into a delegated area. Came back and he goes "you gotta be apart of the team and not do your own thing like on the phone" I said what? I went to the toilet thanks..go ask the plant op teachers. He's like no you didn't.Lol apparently he got eyes everywhere...fukkin tosser. But yeh they couldn't tell me if it'll cost a couple hundge at the RTA when I hand papers over. Like when you get your P's.We do visual test, height and the multiple choice questions at journey. Just go to RTA, hand papers over, get pic done and pay (if needed) Edited 15/05/12 11:09 AM by Shyfrd

I just fill out the papers and they do the rest at journey lolOnly thing I've paid for is the high risk work cards. Forklift and boom lift (that was done through a tafe btw) $60 at the post office when I hand the papers/passport photo over etc
