Its funny how defensive we get about our cars. Now, wheres my gun, Ive got some journos to vist. :gunsfiring: Knobs. We know better. Getting someone in a BMW to drag at the lights would be impossible! Forget about a Lexus driver. And Im sure they would get to 100k quicker too!

I ran a 335i

Stayed with me till 40km/h then by 100 I had 3 lengths on it as I didn't get wheelspin it was a grippy road, if I'd have spun it would have been close till about 90..

This is pre 300rwkw too

Also ran and had an e60 m5 but that was with 300rwkw

Um was it a T..... thought it was only a G6E

If I was looking at Bewahs and the ilk I wouldn't be looking at the Falcon. Should have been the GTE in the test anyway. You may have a few cars you want to try but they will all be in the same budget.

I have Expensive Daewoo mates who swear that Wheels/Motor are totally Ford biased....

Bear in mind that Motor magazine rates the XR6T a 9/10 and 'surely the world's best value sports sedan' in the cars guide section at the back.

Another thing I noticed was the difference in terminal speed over the 400m:

163.7kmh for the beemer

169.2kmh for the G6ET

160.7 for the Lexus.

Would this indicate a traction issue for the G6ET?

NO

The Beemers diff isn't a locker either. I would say two hundred or more kilo's are holding it back till a buck forty. Other mags state the Cardibus as a quicker car than the XRT to 100 yet it's heavier car. Specially with all the cardi's in the boot and hats all over the back shelf.

Journo's are the most basic parasite on the planet. They will suck the guts out of a dead person for a free lunch. Print press were known as reptiles long before internet started.

When I had a restaurant I had Elle mag want to do an article on the restaurant. I thought ubewty and said sure.

$5,000 later lighter and a half page spread of crap I had no idea about.... :)

I think journo's are people who didn't think they wre brite enough to get into law school to become real scum

It's 225kw according to Redbook and 400Nm.

Yep ,that's right. What's strange is that the upcoming 1 series 135 will have 230kw and 450Nm.I think it will

initially come in the hatchback version which doesn't look that good....in the pictures at least.

I'm borrowing a mates '09 335i Motorsport for the next couple weeks, while in-laws are visiting & using my g6et.

My seat-of-the-pants-ometer puts the g6et ahead in straightline performance, especially the 80-120kph sprint, but handling is a different thing altogether, the 335i is leagues ahead. Makes me want to reprioritise my spending away from more power toward more stability (is this just a g6e thing?). My last car was a Legacy (Liberty in Aussie) B4 Blitzen, with it's factory Bilstein suspension it handled a sh!tload better than the g6e and the 335i is a sh!tload better than the blitzen.

One real impressive thing about the 335i is the huge contrast between its equivalent of 'drive' and 'performance mode' in throttle sensitivity / responsiveness, it's night and day. Even with an auto-box, the 335 feels like it would be right at home on the track.

The interior's are very comparable, but the ICC / user controls in the g6et are much more user friendly (plus the 335i has no reversing camera etc). I prefer the tighter fitting seats in the BMW and smaller diameter steering wheel. The keyless entry, start button and keyless lock in the BMW are pretty cool too and not just for the gimic factor, it all works quite seamlessly.

Test driven a few recent M series BMWs .

Whilst I agree that in standard trim the Beemers handle better.

I forgive my 5 year old Phoon for it's shortcomings. As a tourer their is no better IMO
