Hi - dillz has got me thinking that a ve Late model camira airbox will fit where the battery goes on the fg. so question is if anyone happens to have a ve Late model camira either v6 or v8 in the garage can you measure the size of the airbox for me? Thanks in advance

too far away for me dillz - yeah I tried every way imaginable and there is just no way of fitting the stock airbox in without moving the fuse box and that is not happening

Tbh I think the VE one might even be too big, there's just not that much room. I think the vr one is the right size/shape but just too small.

Can't believe the aftermarket hasn't come up with one yet. We get useless overpriced replacements of the factory one when moving the airbox closer to the turbo is a much better idea.

I think the whole having to move the battery turns alot of people off. yeah there is only 160x260 of free space in there without modifying the fusebox.

edit: surely the actual filter surface area would be enough if I cut a big hole in the airbox and put a snorkel under the headlight

An xr8 box is enough to run a 10 so I'd say a gutted one is more them enough.

sorry I meant the vr vs airbox dillz - so does the law state all pod filters are illegal even if in a full box?

You can have a pod or intercooler, not both. All oil filters (k&n) are illegal. But a dry panel filter and big intercooler is legal. This is in Vic, not sure bout the rest.

Don't think dry filters are all crap either, there are good ones out there they just don't last as long and are not reusable.

my mechanic is one of my mates and he wont let me run a k&n - reckons it isnt worth the trouble. Once I work out dimensions of airboxs ill do a couple dyno runs to see the difference between box and race intake

Be pretty keen to see the results, even if you just had a straight pipe off the turbo to the top half of the factory box with stock filter in sitting roughly where the battery goes.

I have a feeling it will work extremely well.
