You should change the oil atleast every 6 months even if doing low kms it becomes contaminated from petrol, moisture etc etc just short trips etc a certain amount of petrol and other stuff gets past the rings and contaminates, the oil it might have a good shelf life but that's in a sealed bottle not actually running in a motor.

I would run it for like 2000-3000kms change the oil from new to get rid of any swarf and other stuff that might be in their change it to a mineral or semi synthetic, then after 5000kms to 10000kms swap it onto full synthetic seriously theirs a million different peoples opnions on whats right but ive read all alot of the threads talked to numerous mechanics and oil reps over the time that's what I would be doing.

As for the paint if its new I presume freshly painted I would wait atleast 1 month before using and silicone based sealers etc on it to make sure the paint breaths , I would just hit it with a clay bar and then seal it with something silicone free then after a month you can use any sealer on it.

Thanks for the tips guys but I must say that my instinct tells me that replacing oil as regular as possible will pay off in the long run. Oil is reasonably cheap compared to serious mechanical issues in the future.

So anyone come up with a quarter mile time these babies run?

Exactly. The small price you pay for fresh new oil compared to a new donk..I know what I'd rather pay for!

Not sure on times,..... But they feel fast for the first couple of weeks, then they only feel swift.... After 2 months, feels slow . Now I need a tune bad!!!

Black really is a cool looking colour, but only leaving the car wash. By the time you get home, it'll look like it needs a wash again.

You buy an auto or a manual mate?

Hey guys im new to this forum. But I ordered a mk2 turbo ute early feb manual with a luxury pack and im still waiting for it. The guys at ford reckon early June

I ordered a mk2 turbo ute manual in edge with a luxury pack on thursday and they gave me a build date of early june with delivery expected mid june. Said they would give me exact date of delivery sometime next week, so I'd be getting on to them and see what is going on.

My first AU2 XR8 took 16 weeks and that was only because they had forgotten to put the order in. Then when I bought my BA XR8 it took 3 weeks from order to delivery.

Mine is an auto, yeah the reason why I went with black is because it looks so awesome. Might need a little bit more maintenance but hey I think it's worth it. Im hoping a regular wax or polish will alleviate most of the trouble.

Pkooistra yours looks fantastic mate, did you get any options on yours? So imagine me going from a 2.0 litre Telsta to a turbo. sh*t I cant wait.

sh*t CWHYTE, what's the story there mate? You mean to tell me you've been waiting 3 months already? I ordered mine a week ago and they told me mid June. What state to you live in?

I myself am also picking up a new kinetic manual mk2 turbo ute from melbourne this friday and driving it all the way back home in cairns, just under 5000k's!

you reckon it'll be all good to go this far without getting an oil change on the way?
