Until these wankers (of all political persuasions) stop pushing for free trade agreements (that forbid tariffs) with third world countries that pay their workers $50 a month there's no point even trying to compete...even with a sh*tload of subsidies. And that number is only Ford or Expensive Daewoo plants, theres companies like Bosch that let go of just about all there staff over the last 2 years. that's 1000 jobs gone, not to mention other parts supplier companies.Tighten the belts, we are in for a ride this year.

A mine I do work for closed it's doors at easter, about 150 jobs gone.I keep an eye on the hire car lots and the cranes on the skyline wherever I go as well as chatting to freight delivery drivers. Not looking good for Qld anywhere apart from the Gladstone LNG projects.

I expect to see major axings by some of the big civil contractors soon also (FKG, FH, PB).. Government investment in infrastructure will dry up almost completely in the next 12-15 months..I know to stay in work I'm going overseas for my next job.. Or their bank is at least. If someone like that folds there'll be a bit of pain Until these wankers (of all political persuasions) stop pushing for free trade agreements (that forbid tariffs) with third world countries that pay their workers $50 a month there's no point even trying to compete...even with a sh*tload of subsidies. In todays financial review...Australian imports from Thailand are up 90 per cent in 2013 compared with 2012, even as the baht has risen against the dollar. Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries chief executive Tony Weber said Thailands excise taxes on cars has a negative impact on exports of cars to the country. The Ford Territory is advertised in Thailand at a retail price of $99,000, twice the Australian price. How the fck does that make any sense? Morons.
