Don't crow too loudly, I don't think any industry is immune. Especially IT given the exorbitant rip-offs that most of the big firms are.

I reckon the outsourcing trend will reverse once companies realise how much money they are wasting.

If outsourcing slows then internal jobs will rise. So far I have never seen IT affected as much as any other industry.

Even if every company collapses and everyone looses their jobs there will still be a guy needed to look after the computers at centrelink.

But I'm not saying IT is immune because nothing is.

Ford US are crowing about how they've massively reduced costs by hiring a heap of minimum wage, untrained staff. They said that some of the new staff didn't even know what tools are required to fit a bolt, so they had to do heaps of workplace training...

They must be punching out a quality product now! :blink:

It was going to be 450 but they've found positions to save around 120 of them. Still bad but could have been worse

Last week Ford announced the shutdown of three assembly lines in the UK and Europe - axing 8000 jobs in the process.
