Hey all,

Heading out to wsid tomorrow night if weather holds out..

Just after some handy tips.. I have a bf 6speed manual with 368 @ wheels and I have just put on 19" wheels with brand new Dunlops on the front and about 60% on rears...

1) Should I put the better tread on the rear or will the track be grippy anyway?

2) Should I just put my stock 17's back on to get a better time or will bigger wheels not affect time?

3) Average revs rpm off the line in a manual?

4) How much tyre PSI in 17" or 19"

Will a manual with my power get into the 11's???

Cheers, Josh.

I think a could starting point is throwing on the 17's and if they have better grip. will get you more flex in the rears when taking off and are much lighter then the 19's

Really hope it does not rain, but suprise suprise hey!!

I can just see me putting the 17's back on today and sprinkle sprinkle by 4pm... But if it looks like weather is holding out I will put smaller wheels on like you say, thanks IRMCDOWELL.

Its wednesday, it always rains...lol

Back on topic I would say you will struggle to get into the 11's without something like Mickey Thompson ET streets - manual is hard going unless you get off the line really quicky and that's not easy either!

True SENNA, I was also torn between traction control ON or OFF..

I've noticed in my car that 2nd gear sort of churps it's way onto power consistantly with it turned ON..But when turned OFF it just wheel bounces and heads sideways way too much!

I'm thinking I'll just try a run with both ON/OFF unless anyone thinks this is a very bad idea..??

PS: How the hell do u stop the whole wheel bounce crap when you lose traction? What causes it to not just spin nicely?

You need to be really smooth on your launch and gear changes - this will help reduce the axle tramp.

I would suggest running with traction control OFF since the start stop under big power can be very aggressive to your drive line and also the oil pump gears.

Aside from that changing shocks and rear end bushes help reduce the axle tramp, but mostly it is about being smooth. Don't get carried away with trying to shift gears and jump off the clutch too hard, this isn't the quickest way down the strip!

Sweet as, good to know all this thanks mate!

What would be the best tyre pressure to run in rears if anyone knows? 20psi maybe..

I believe there's around 36-38 psi in them now for everyday driving
