Hi,

As the topic states, has anybody tuned their stock BA turbo without really doing any mods? I have added a monza cooler only, and opened up my air box.

I am really just looking for a tune for better economy and maybe a touch more power. If anybody has had any experiences please let me know. I'm not looking for huge kW or anything, maybe 280kw at the engine and better fuel consumption.

Regards

Nick

You shouldnt expect much more than 230-250rwkw. Valve Springs will probably be your first hurdle, then your are looking at cat convertor. What transmission do you have? If it's a Manual T5 you need to be aware they break very easily.

trade it in on a 6 speed before you waste any more money on it, will be cheaper in the long run, than replacing clutches ane then gearboxes or doing 6 speed conversion

6speed conversion believe it or not is cheaper.

When trading it factor in increased loan amount + interest (if car not owned outright), trade in value of the vehicle, dealer price on the 6speed equivalent, depreciation on the new vehicle.

Dealer pays 10k for current car but worth 15 privately.

Dealer has 6 speed worth 17 but wants 20

Your dealer bought car will loose 20% in its first year = 3.4K

11.4K loss just from dealer transactions. <------ obviously the figure is relative

6 speed conversion on current vehicle should be around 4-6k inc labour and clutch.

Then leave it stock or do a 6 speed conversion. The slightest increase on power and it's only a matter of time before gearbox goes BOOOOOOM. Do the conversion if like the car so much.

Yeah your gearbox would be a ticking timebomb with that much at the flywheel. BAs come out with around 200rwkw (240 at the flywheel). Considering you will be up for around 1500 for a tune you're probably best to leave it stock if you don't want to alter the transmission.

put a t56 in the car

go find powerchip office

donate your 5 speed to their doorstep
