Hmm, lot of good feedback here. Seems like everyone's leaning more towards the private sellers. I guess I shouldnt really rely on dealer warranty when buying a 2nd hand car. That was my main draw of going to a dealer in the first place but looking at everyone's experience on here I guess its only worth the paper its written on.

I do prefer the private seller ad (as mentioned above) in terms of looks plus knowing that the car belongs to a member can only be a good thing I guess.

Now I just gotta find a mate that knows a thing or two about cars (gonna be hard), and take him along with me for a look. Or I could just hire a private assessor like EFSIX did.

I will be modifying the car in the future so knowing the engine is still healthy and hasnt been thrashed to an inch of its life would be reassuring.

On a funnier note, the old man says he wants to be involved in the purchase aswell. I will give it to him he is a good negotiator but doesnt know sh*t all about cars, even if he likes to think he does.

Private car is much better IMO. He's got the option packs. 30k km over 4yrs is very good. Great colour. Reg until Sept. $32k neg so you can talk him down a bit if you are serious about the buy.

Good luck and let us know how you go bud :spoton:

Yep, ill keep everyone informed on how it goes.

Jesus! They're asking that for a 08 XR and I can't even give away a 2010 G6ET with LESS kays for that. Go figure.

I've not had one call from a person that sounds over 30, most early 20's.

Downside is none of them have any money lol.

I guess that's just how the market is now-a-days. I cant really find any good FG-T with low k's for under 30 grand. But by all means, if you know of any / anyone, send them my way.

The 10k premium over an XR you pay for a G6 disappears instantly lol

That orange one was say $46,000 4 years ago and mine was $56,000 2 years ago. Farking Fords.

Finding a cheap one with low kays will be the challenge, you usually get one or the other. And if you want it fully optioned forget about it, just giving you the heads up as I went through the exact same thing 12 months ago.

Yeah I think I would be leaning more towards the low kays rather than a low price. I dont mind paying a bit extra for a fresher engine and piece of mind. As for the options, im not fussed about that at all.

I also had a quick look at you're G6ET Dillz, its a crying shame that you cant get more for it. I would take it off you're hands for that price but unfortunatly I won't move anymore than 30k for a car.

Although, if you compare them with similar features adding the Lux Pack and Auto to the XR6T that takes it to $51-52,000 which is not too much less than the G6ET.

What I have noticed with the prices, and comparing them to the older B and E series is that while the luxury Falcons drop drastically in the first 24 months (by almost 50% where the XR6T only drops to 70%), after 5 years they are worth 35% and after 10 years they are worth 25%.

On the other hand, the other variants drop to 70%, a tad under 50% and 25% for the same time periods. The exception is manuals which hold their value a bit better. The trend continues though and a conclusion can be drawn.

If you plan on holding the car for less than 5 years, the more basic the model, the less you lose. If you plan to hold the car long term, the highest value model will retain its value best (and adding optional extras to the lesser models is worthless). In the second instance, you would be better with a G6ET than an XR6T with the auto and lux pack. It seems that once cars get below $15,000 people are willing to pay more and get the higher spec than settle for lower spec models.

I must admit, your car would be tempting if it was in NSW Dillz...I have my heart set on getting an Havana G6ET though...
