Do you know if the VCT units are the same for n/a's as well as the taxi's etc?

It doesn't look too technical to reg. the chain tensioner. If I can get them latively cheap there's no harm in trying them out to see if it clears the fault.. Right?I should add I've checked the connectors and wiring just before and they look fine. The plugs are fully in still, the cable appears fine without going to crazy checking every inch and the big plug at the PCM is fully in. Would it just be the VCT units that need to be replaced or the oil control valves too? What do u reckon would cause the gears to fark up again? I doubt yours have failed again unless you have oil issues

I'm currently using Nulon 10-40 and the oil was changed roughly 1000kms ago. The car doesn't use/loose any oil, I never have to top it up.I'm not sure as to what else you mean by having oil issues? Thanx mate

Pull rocker cover off and pull out the ocv's then clean them out with contact cleaner while switching them with 12v on and off simultaneously. Reinstall and see how we go

Pulled out the oil solenoids and cleaned them out with contact cleaner while turning the car over for short burst to try and make them actuate while spraying. Blew them out with high pres. air and continued cleaning. Refitted but poured a cap of oil over them before sliding them back in. Timing looks right, now just to test it out.
