Hello guys,

I have a question, bit of a faggy question, but does anybody actually know what PSI the FG's come out factory tuned?

I have heard just about every number from 4 to 10 psi!

I would love to clear this up for piece of mind.

cheers

I believe it varies but normally it should peak at 10PSI or less

Thanks heaps guys.. While we'r at it, I maise well ask about the factory actuator? Iv herd story's that there no good once being boosted up and over 12psi as it cant maintain that constant level.. Is this true? and if so is it worth changing in the first round of mods. cheers

stock actuator is around 7-8psi, I put pressure up its ass to find out when I had my turbo off, it should be alright for 12psi

My understanding is FG XRT runs 9 psi and FG F6 runs 13.1 psi from factory, Cheers

FG F6 must make good power standard at that boost.

Hi

I believe the FG XR6T has 0.7 bar or 10psi of boost , I think they came equipped with an overboost feature, where it could potentially lift boost by 10% for a few seconds:)

F6 has 0.91 bar or 13.3 psi

cheers

Yes, that is correct SydneyXR6T. At least that's what I read from a 2008 Ford press release a few months back. The OverBoost function is supposed to add 10% boost for a limited period with WOT or when the car thinks you're 'overtaking'.

The boost is a bit complex as the ecu controls it, the highest desired boost in the FG XR6T manual is 10.4 psi, it only aims for this at an IAT of 150 degrees F at 3000-4500 rpm, the normal boost is more often around 8.3 psi at IAT's of 80-120 degrees F, the boost tapers off above 4500 rpm dropping to only 5 psi at 6000 rpm. This is why you get so many different figures thrown around as the boost is not a set thing like the good old days, it varies dependant on IAT, coolant temp, throttle position for starters. These figures are straight from a stock tune file in SCT.

Cheers

Joel
