Hi Guys,

I have a BA XR6 Turbo. My trip computer is telling me 407km range from a full tank of BP Ultimate. The only mods I have done is a Monza cooler, cut open the front of the airbox for more airflow, K&N panel filter and changed the O2 sensor. My consumption according to the dashboard is around 16.7l/100km which is all driving around Sydney. Average speed is about 25km/h.

Does this sound right? I was thinking the economy should be a little better. I did do some "spirited driving" after making the mods on the previous tank, from which I only got 325km from a tank. How does the computer calculate range?

Any other ways to improve economy? Most gear changes are made at or under 2500rpm. It is a 5 speed manual.

Regards

Nick

Seems about normal. I get about 520km to a tank and average is 12.8 and average speed is around the 40km/h mark.. That's with 10% of city driving.. City driving doesn't help and if you've flogged it then the computer thinks that's how many kays your gonna get driving like that the next tank.. A tune would go a long way to get more economy, but then you'll be flogging it more lol.. Take it easy before your next fill up and it should be a bit better, those DTE readings aren't that accurate too..

Wow 520 to a tank is great. My average speed sits over 46km/h and I barely get 400km from a tank with a manual.

That sounds right actually, mine sat for a long time at 16.4L, but it has gone down to 16.1. This all depends on how you drive the car. What MiKa said is correct, a tune would definitely help, but the downside is that the car might go better and then you are constantly booting it!!!

I know its not a turbs but I bought a ba futura for the misses a while ago and most times id fill it up it would read 530km full tank then for some unforsaken reason the next time I fill it up it reads 420km?? weird? bu if I remove the terminals from the battery for a few mins,it gets back to the original 530km full tank?

(I might be getting way off couse from what the tread indicates though)lol soz!

Mine would say like 550kms till empty, if I boot it constantly my average will rise obviously and after the next fill it would say about 450.. Its all about how you drive, ya'll must be really giving it heaps to be in the 16's... Maybe reset it and see how you go after it settles down.. I reset mine and it always hovers just under 13, with mixed driving (city, fwy, hwy and taking off from the lights etc....) Also filling up with BP ultimate will help your fuel consumption, cleans as it burns etc... but it costs extra

Sounds about right to me too. I get around 350km to a tank with 300rwkw around town but my L/100km sit in the 12s for some reason. On the freeway I can get up to 500km.

Just had a tune on Monday though so this tank might be a bit different.

Like Mika said, fill up reset all trip meters and go for a long drive to settle. Then drive like you normally would and see the difference.
