now for my 2 cents worth, a lot of people are saying it should not just be for people with turbos but the name of the site/club should be changed if that is the case as it is called fordxr6TURBO.com after all.maybe it should be called xr6turbo and any other fords.com?? not that I am against anyone else joining or having a say as some great posts have come from non turbo owners.

I also think everything is going along just fine as it is and it would be impossible to have monthly meetings as a club because of the geographical status of the members.let sleeping dogs lie! or if it aint broken dont fix it!!

If the club should be known as anything it should be FordTurbo club as it was borne from the XR6T and now er have the F6, XR5T and now the TerriT.

The only thing about a real club is all the BS agendas that people tend to tow and all the admin crap that needs to be done.

I like things the way they are.

I like the way things are. I really think we have something special here. This is more than a official club, it's an on-line community of like-minded friendly level-headed people which literally spans the globe. I don't need a badge or membership card if I goto QLD on holidays and join in on a cruise there. You know, there's something special about such acceptance. And from my point of view, guys on-line genuinely try to help out if assistance is requested. Sure, there are the jokes and taking the piss out some people, but that's part of our culture. No one does it maliciously, as far as I can tell. And, I tell you what, you've got to have humour in life and that definitely exists in this forum. So, I don't think being an official club with rules and regulations tabled actually does anything more for me. We're like a well working machine, some people have the ability to take on certain tasks and they do it, and it keeps the wheels oiled. And I reckon, if a need arises, someone usually steps/bubbles up to fill the void which takes care of the evolution of the on-line community. Why, we're Open Sourced!

Associations are governed by State and Federal legislation. To operate in other states, the association can put an application to ASIC (Australian Securities and Investment Commission) for a Registered Australian Body. The legalities of setting up an associaton would be enormous. Has anyone here got the time to become an associate and run it for no pay? You cannot under legislation, make any profit.

A couple of extracts from the ASSOCIATIONS INCORPORATION ACT 1984

7 Eligibility for incorporation

(1)Subject to this Act, an association formed or carried on for any lawful object and consisting of not less than 5 members is eligible to be incorporated under this Act.

(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), an association is not eligible to be incorporated under this Act if the association:

(a) is carried on for the object of trading or securing pecuniary gain for its members

44 Requirement to insure

(1) An incorporated association shall effect and maintain with an approved insurer such insurance against a liability of the association as may be required by the regulations, for a cover of not less than the amount required by the regulations.

(2) Without affecting the generality of subsection (1), regulations made for the purpose of that subsection may require an incorporated association to effect and maintain insurance against a liability of the association arising out of an occurrence causing death or bodily injury to a person or damage to property.

You can't hide behind an incorporated entities public liability these days as personal liability is becoming more wide spread.

How many directors of major compaies have YOU seen in the papers lately going to jail. I'm not suggesting that any of you guys are as crooked as them, but they were Directors of an entity and they got sued.

Elected associate members are legally responsible for the running of that entity.

I don't want to sound like a wet blanket but does anyone really grasp what it takes to become an association because there is a lot more involved than what appears. An association is no different than running a limited company.

My 2 cents worth

Cheers
