Hey guys just purchased an 05 BAII FPV with a factory hard tonneau but the guy I bought it from had no keys for the lid.

Is it cheaper/more viable to get new keys made up for the barrels by a locksmith keeping in mind the quote I got was for between $85 and $125 or to get whole new barrels and keys?

Is there a way ford can track what keys I need by using the hard lid number or something like that?

old locks and keys wear out anyways, dont worry about tracking the keys down. waste of time.

sooooo

id pay the money and get a fresh set of barrels and keys, the price you have been given is pretty good anyways.

Couldn't find anything recent on this issue so brought up this old thread.

One of my lock/barrels is completely bung and since I've just re-gassed my struts the lid is not sitting flush so I need to get a new (replacement) lock - fast!. Spoke with Ford and these parts are now obsolete on the B series and apparently the FG locks are incompatible. Tried the local locksmith, things don't look favourable they are getting back to me. Tried the wreckers but they don't isolate the locks and sell the hardlids complete.

Any help here would be much appreciated..

my lid is fitted with remote locking so don't have to worry about keys

I'm looking at upgrading to remote entry lid later down the track. Who did it, and is it just keyed/programmed to a sedan remote with boot button?

it was supplied with the lid, was by LIDLOCK it is wired into the door remote, when you unlock the pass door the lid unlocks. is excellent, no key holes to get dirty, no key holes to open with a screwdriver, and the brackets are heavy duty stainless, very difficult to force open.
