I wonder if in sydney more united servo's will start selling E85, pretty dissapointing that theres only one united servo is selling the stuff. theres a caltex near by but if im to get a E85 tune im not driving 45mins to get it. A mates father-in-law has multiple drag/race cars so he takes his trailer full of drums and fills them all up from united and he loves it.

Well whats different in the plastics and rubbers on cars that are e85 compatable?

Then we have our answer. If nothing's different except tune and injectors etc. I'd say it's safe.

I've put a link below where Sucrogen go through details of their fuel and talk about their "SPECIAL CORROSION INHIBITOR" Perhaps this answers some of the concerns people have? Would be interesting to see if United E85 and Eflex also have something similar added to their fuel..

I have my car tuned for 50/50 98 and e85. solves ant starting/ idling issues. also can be run with 60 deka's (just). I will need to upgrade injectors to run just e85.

what are deka 80lb/h like? or are id1000 the only way to go?

Deka 80 lb have an incorrect spray pattern to suit our cars and may contribute to hard starting or idling issues on 98 and worse on E85

Interesting, whether or not it is a marketing gimmick or not it at least shows what can happen if the system is not ethanol friendly.

It would be interesting to get United's take on it as I have a united about 15 minutes from the shop and this is what I was going to try on Bels car

Here is a paper on pump e85 worldwide standards and the proposed standards for aus. It also tells you everything that is in the fuel and the tolerances.

Whilst I'm not 100% sure what the standard fuel rail and lines are made of?

the sucrogen link/ad shows corrosion on the two test samples which are CARBON steel.

also in terms of reliability etc (although not an xr6 turbo) the Nizpro XR5 turbo hasn't seen a drop of 98 in the last 2.5 years and has been run on e85 with no problems whatsoever

Ah yeah,so Daves been running it in his Focus aswell... 2.5years is pretty good going with no concerns. Then again, are the Focus materials better than our Aussie stuff.

What type/brand are the 1000cc injectors you guys use Possum? I spoke to Dave about getting mine done last week and he said I will most likely need to upgrade from my Nizpro injectors.
