I am looking at one that's 2003, done around 130000 and has a few mods like tune, injectors and cold air intake, its an auto aswell. im not sure if this is too many kms and im going to look today to see how it drives.

130,000 kms is pretty good for an 03 model. How much is it?

There are quite a few things to consider when purchasing a nearly 10 year old car. Have a look at some of the threads on here.

I'd say suspension and diff bush would be near the top of the list. If it's an auto you might want to put a tranny cooler on it too as soon as you start making power.

Hmmm for $14,000 it'd want to have a full service history, be clean and well optioned.

Got any links if it's online?

Do you plan on doing many mods to it?

I had a good look around and did a bit of research before I bought mine last week.

That seems pretty typical and what I was looking at. Shmick ones were about $15K stock with those sort of kms. I ended up finding one in the local paper for what I consider a good buy. $13K for a BF MK I with 135K km, but needs about $2K spent on it (gearbox service and a few other little things). Just FYI.

They are around, but if you are happy for the money, enjoy.

Don't trust RAC check totally. I had an RACQ check on a hilux I bought a few years ago and they told me there was a stain on the vinyl seat but missed the fact the chassis had been rewelded in the front. They also said they wouldn't be buying it as it had too many kms. 239,000 on a 15 year old diesel.

I said if they could find me one in better kms in as good nick for the same money I'd buy it. Ended up selling it 3 years later for more than I paid.

Point is, get a mechanic you trust to look over it. They'll also make you aware of what things they'd recommend fixing/upgrading for what you plan to do to it.

If you can buy from a dealer. You'll be able to get a warranty with it. Otherwise make sure you take it to pedders and get the 21point check. If the car hasn't already had all underside replaced at some point you'll be spending a few to do it sooner or later.

Where abouts do you live tom93?

I am trying to get my BA turbo sorted to sell asap and was thinking of putting it up for under $15k which going off everyone here seems ok now especially for Townsville. Has just on 85000km and has most mods done except for the turbo!
