THere is no point putting a standard replacement cradle in. It needs to be modified for greater strength by adding plate and weld. Belt the bent plate as original as you can so you can get it aligned then start adding plate of some thickness.

wait, so I don't need a new cradle ? where would I look for a new backing plate ? I thought it meant a whole new cradle. Just call ford or something?

It's my own fault really, was too hard on the gear changes.

if the thread where the main bolt screws into is damaged/missing, then it's the backing plate you need as that is what that bolt goes in to, A new one is available from ford or source a second hand one from a wrecker but make sure the thread is good first

Is this a part that should potentially be pro-actively strengthened to ensure that failure does not occur in the future?

Whats with all the white, silicone-looking stuff around the edge of the new rear diff bush? You really dont need that if you are installing a bush correctly. Was the rear bush loose in the cradle?

It seems as though they have greased it up to install it and it hasn't been cleaned up. I will be plating it up and will show pics once it's all done.

Damn more of these cradles popping up. Weak point for sure

The potential of these cars let down by some basic design issues like these cradles and bushes. I love my G6E Turbo but I worry about possible future issues like this, especially now I've modified and probably have no warranty on the cradle.
